FROM LEGACY TO LEADERSHIP: NADP CHARTS A GLOBAL COURSE ON OFSC DAY

Nagpur :– On the occasion of OFSC Day, the National Academy of Defence Production (NADP) proudly celebrated its transformation from a retraining institute into a national force for defence capacity building, innovation, and leadership.Fo unded as the Ordnance Factories Staff College (OFSC) on 24th October 1978, NADP has evolved into a premier Central Training Institute (CTI) recognized by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) and accredited by the Capacity Building Commission (CBC). With roots in the 200-year legacy of the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board (OFB), NADP has trained over 20,000 officers from IOFS, IOFHS, IDAS, CLS, Armed Forces, and private defence industries.

NADP is the first institute in India to launch a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) focused exclusively on defence production and strategy. With mentorship from IIM Indore, 100% internship placements, and cutting-edge pedagogy, the PGDM program is shaping future-ready techno-managerial leaders. As the largest contributor to the iGOT platform among defence organizations, NADP has reached nearly 4 lakh learners with an average rating of 4.5/5, reinforcing its role in digital skilling under Mission Karmayogi.

Beyond academics, NADP is committed to sustainability and social impact. Its hostels are plastic-free zones, powered by biogas plants, and surrounded by over 200 species of flora. Through CSR and volunteering, NADP supports special schools, underserved communities, and inclusive development—believing that true leadership begins with compassion. NADP’s excellence has been recognized with prestigious awards including: Golden Peacock Training Award (2011), Asian Business Excellence Award (2024), International Stevie Award (2024), Excellence Award at Asia Pacific Future Skills Summit (2025) and Best Innovative Program by Times Aspire (2025).

With over 20 MoUs signed with institutions like IIM Indore, IIM Visakhapatnam, DIAT Pune, Infosys Springboard, MCMM, MILIT, Harvard Business Publishing, and Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, NADP is expanding its reach across academia, industry, and government. The celebrations began with a flag hoisting ceremony, symbolizing NADP’s unwavering commitment to national service and excellence. A strategic meeting followed in the afternoon, where past and present faculty members engaged in meaningful dialogue on NADP’s transformation journey and future roadmap. The discussions centered around innovation, infrastructure, and expanding NADP’s role in national capacity building.

The day concluded with a vibrant cultural function, showcasing the spirit and diversity of the NADP community. Performances by PGDM students and staff celebrated India’s rich heritage and the Academy’s evolving identity. The event was graced by esteemed faculty members, including Dr. A.S. Balgir, S.K. Shiv Liha, Madam Meenakshi Seth, Rajnish Lodwal , S.K. Sachdeva, and Shailendra Nath and SAN Murthy whose presence added warmth and wisdom to the occasion. Notable personalities like E R Sheikh, EX DG, OFB, A M Naik Ex Member OFB, V K Iyer, CMD/YIL, S K Singh, Dir/HR, YIL, Gp Captain Ratnakar Singh, DPRO, Astha Karlekar, Director/ SCZCC, Capt Abhishek Singh, SQAO, Captain Biupl K. Chanda, Shishir Khare, ED/ YITM, attended the cultural function.

Dr. J P Dash, Principal Director, NADP, shared: “As we celebrate OFSC Day, we honor the legacy of our predecessors and the unwavering support of our partners. NADP is preparing to go global. We are deepening partnerships with the Wadhwani Foundation and Taksheela Global to position NADP as a talent supplier to the world. Soon, we will be training top-tier private ammunition manufacturers, bringing our expertise to the forefront of India’s defence transformation.”

With its vision aligned to Viksit Bharat @2047, NADP is poised to become a strategic integrator, a policy partner, and a global center of excellence in defence education, research, and innovation.
