Nagpur :- Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area paid homage and tribute to the 1965 War Hero, Late Major Surendra Deo at his Memorial Park on 16 Sep 2026. In a befitting spectacular ceremony, a wreath on behalf of the GOC and all ranks of Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area was laid during the ceremony. Wreath laying & homage was also paid by Veer Nari Mrs Anuradha Deo, Serving Officers, Veterans & Civilians
TRIBUTE TO ULTIMATE SACRIFICE OF 1965 WAR HERO BY HEADQUARTERS UTTAR MAHARASHTRA AND GUJARAT SUB AREA
Further, Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area paid a tribute to all warriors of 1965 in a grand befitting ceremony on 16 Sep 2026. On this occasion, Officers & Troops of the Sub Area, large number of Retired Officers, former soldiers and citizens of Nagpur gathered at Shaheed Major Surendra Deo Park located in Dhantoli, Nagpur.
This park is dedicated to Shaheed Major Surendra Deo who attained martyrdom in the war with Pakistan in Sialkot sector on 16 September 1965, in the 1965 Indo-Pak War. His last rites were performed on 17 September 1965 on the battlefield itself.
In this befitting ceremony, a wreath on behalf of GOC and all ranks of Headquarters Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area was laid. A wreath was laid by Mrs Anuradha Deo, the wife of Shaheed Major Surendra Deo.
Lt Col Raman Date (Retd) explained the reasons for the 1965 war and the valour of the Indian Army in the war. He spoke about the military life & indomitable courage of Major Surendra Deo in the face of extreme danger. Nagpur remembered it valiant sons on this sombre occasion.
