FREEDOM HEALTH CAMP

– VILLAGE GHORAD, TALUKA KALMESHWAR DIST NAGPUR

Under ‘Mission LiFE’ initiative, a Multi-Speciality ‘Freedom Health Camp’ (Celebrate Freedom with Good Health) was organised on 26 Jul 26 at Village Ghorad in Kalmeshwar Taluka of Nagpur District. The event was conducted under the aegis of Air Force Families Welfare Association (Regional) {AFFWA(R)}, Maintenance Command, Indian Air Force, reaffirming the Indian Air Force’s commitment to community welfare and preventive healthcare.

The Camp was inaugurated by Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, PhD, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Maintenance Command, IAF. The camp provided free preventive health check-ups and specialist consultations to more than 600 villagers across multiple disciplines, including General Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology (Eye), Surgery, Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Dental Care, alongwith General OPD services. The specialist medical team from the Armed Forces Medical Services, led by Air Vice Marshal Sachin S Shouche, Principal Medical Officer, Headquarters Maintenance Command, rendered comprehensive healthcare services free of cost. Preventive health screening and dental examinations were also conducted for the residents of the village. Headquarters Maintenance Command will organise similar multi-speciality medical outreach camps at regular intervals over the next one year, thereby ensuring sustained healthcare support and promoting healthier communities.

To promote healthy living, awareness posters on ‘Fit for Life’ and ‘Eat Light, Eat Right’ were displayed throughout the camp. Mrs Yalla Sreevalli, President AFFWA(R) distributed nutrition packs, sports kit and stationery to the underprivileged children of the village and children of Anganwadi School reinforcing the commitment towards child health, nutrition and education.

The Freedom Health Camp marks a sustained community outreach programme by Headquarters Maintenance Command. Through a series of regular medical camps over the coming year, the Command aims to strengthen access to quality healthcare in rural areas, enhance awareness of preventive health practices and contribute meaningfully to the wellbeing of neighbouring communities. A tree plantation drive was also carried out at village under GOI initiative of ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’.
