Said Senior Photographer Sanjib Ganguly; World Photography Day celebrated in the Department of Mass Communication
Nagpur 20 : “Photofest”, a photography competition was organized by department of mass communication to honour ” world photography day. It was an initiative to bring out the creativity and intrinsic qualities of students through the lens.
To grace the occasion, senior photo-journalist Mr. sanjib ganguly was invited as chief guest.
Although I came to the field of photography unexpectedly, after starting photography, I started taking pictures by understanding and ‘feeling’ each subject. After reaching the spot i used to think innovatively while taking photographs. The clicked pictures were always given good space in the newspapers. Earlier, photographers had to face many obstacles, although now times have changed. If photographers take pictures keeping their imagination awake, they will definitely get a place different from others .Before clicking any photo, photographers should keep in mind various angles of that subject, said Mr.Ganguly while interacting with students.
Further in the program, Dr. Prabhash Sahu said that journalism is incomplete without photography. Prof. Dr. Dharmesh Dhawankar told the students that the importance of photographs in newspapers is increasing. Senior journalist Anand Bhise gave a brief introduction of Mr Sanjib Ganguly and his work.
The program screened the presentation photographs clicked by the students. All students took part very actively in the competition.jury members selected the best pictures and announced the name of winners.
Amol Rathod won first place in the competition, second prize was given to Dipanshu Panddhan and Yashika Vairagade earnd the third place. Along with this consolation prizes were given to Sushil Chavan and Tanuja Madavi.
The program was well supported by Dr. Manisha Mohod, Prof. Shruti Sangode and Vinay Nimgade.
