CAIT’s nationwide campaign “Indian Goods – Our Pride” in full swing across the Country
Mumbai 18 : Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in his earlier address at Kashi, in the Independence Day speech, and once again today in Delhi, has strongly appealed to sell and buy only Swadeshi (Indian) goods. This makes it clear that the issue is now at the top priority of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s agenda. Traders across the country have also resolved to take the Prime Minister’s appeal to every corner of India – said Shri Praveen Khandelwal, Member of Parliament from Chandni Chowk, Delhi and National Secretary General of the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT). He informed that since August 10, CAIT and its affiliated trade bodies have been running the “Indian Goods – Our Pride” campaign across the nation.
Shri Khandelwal described Prime Minister Modi’s call as historic and said that the appeal to buy and sell Swadeshi goods is extremely visionary, and its major outcomes will be visible in the times to come. Once this appeal is implemented at the grassroots, India’s economic strength will resonate across the world, and the consumer power of India will compel global markets to bow before it.
He added that the Prime Minister’s message is a guiding force for every trader. The time has come for the trading community to play a leading role in promoting Indian goods and to spread the message among customers that “Swadeshi is true service to the nation.”
Explaining the action plan under the “Indian Goods – Our Pride” campaign, Shri Khandelwal said that “Swadeshi Sankalp Yatras” will be organized in all major state markets. Banners and posters will be displayed in every shop and marketplace, urging customers to buy only Indian goods. Special campaigns on digital and social media will be carried out to engage youth and women entrepreneurs.
He further said that Consumer Dialogue Programs will be organized in cities across all states, where success stories of local manufacturers, artisans, and MSMEs will be shared, while consumers will be urged to buy Indian products. State-level trader conferences will also be held to strengthen the supply chain and distribution network of Indian goods.
Shri Khandelwal informed that on August 3, CAIT had organized a National Traders Conference in New Delhi, where more than 150 trade leaders from 26 states resolved not only to sell Indian goods themselves but also to educate consumers and transform the Swadeshi movement into a national mass movement.
“If every trader and every consumer together adopts only Indian goods, then in the coming years India will emerge as the world’s largest consumer power and an economic superpower.” – said Shri Khandelwal, adding that the Prime Minister’s appeal is a very solid and decisive step in this direction.
