Nagpur Municipal Commissioner Orders Speedy Completion of  ‘Vande Mataram’ Garden

Nagpur :- Nagpur Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Dr. Abhijeet Chaudhari, has directed officials to immediately complete the ‘Vande Mataram’ Garden, being built by NMC in honour of soldiers and recipients of gallantry awards. Dr. Chaudhari issued these instructions during a site visit on Monday (22 sept).

The unique garden is being developed on a one lakh square-foot plot within the centrally located Empress Mill premises. Additional Commissioner Vaishnavi B., former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, along with Deputy Commissioner Ganesh Rathod, Executive Engineers Kamlesh Chavan,  Girish Likhar, Rajendra Rathod, and  Prashant Sonkusale. Tree conservation officer Amol Chaurpagar, Deputy Engineers Sanjay Ingle, Purushottam Phalke, and  Vanjari, Junior Engineer Sanjay Puri, along with architects Priyadarshan Nagpurkar, Swapnil Ashtikar, Avinash Sahu, and  Shishir Tripathi.

The ‘Vande Mataram’ Garden will be dedicated to soldiers who were martyred in war, gallantry award winners, ex-servicemen, war widows, and their dependents. Expressing his dissatisfaction with the slow pace of work, Dr. Chaudhari warned that strict action would be taken against the officer or employee found to be negligent. He also instructed officials to complete the necessary work for a ‘Light and Sound Show’ planned for the garden. Furthermore, he directed them to reinforce and install lighting on the historic Empress Mill chimney located in the area.

Former Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari highlighted that while the project is progressing, with murals of Param Vir Chakra recipients, a children’s play area, skywalk, and pedestrian paths already completed, the remaining work needs to be finished promptly.
