Nagpur 28 : In a proactive move to enhance the safety of its frontline workforce, the Traction Distribution (TRD) Department of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division has procured advanced di-electric insulated safety shoes. These shoes are specially designed to provide essential protection for staff working in high-voltage electrified sections, particularly during maintenance and repair operations involving Overhead Equipment (OHE) with voltages ranging from 25 to 27 kV.
The key feature of these safety shoes lies in their di-electric properties, which offer reliable insulation against electric shocks up to 30 kV. This significantly reduces the risk of life-threatening injuries while working in electrically hazardous environments.
Additionally, the shoes are equipped with slip-resistant soles, ensuring firm grip and stability, especially during the rainy season or on wet surfaces—conditions commonly encountered during fieldwork. This added safety feature is crucial for maintaining balance and preventing accidents at work sites.
