MSRDC to link Nagpur with East Vid by e-ways, to spend Rs 56,000 cr

Nagpur :-Travelling to Chandrapur, Gondia and Gadchiroli will be a smooth affair after some years. Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC), which built the Samruddhi Mahamarg at the cost of Rs 55,000 crore, has decided to spend over Rs 56,000 crore to link Nagpur with cities of East Vidarbha. The total length of these expressways is 447 km.

These expressways will be access controlled like Samruddhi, which means that nobody will be able to enter or exit except through the interchanges. Motorists will be able to drive on them at 120 km per hour without any problem.

Sources in MSRDC said that tenders had been awarded for constructing expressways linking Nagpur with Gondia, Bhandara with Gadchiroli and Nagpur with Chandrapur and nearby towns. Land acquisition for these expressways would begin soon.

The 162 km long six-lane Nagpur-Gondia expressway, which includes a connector to Tiroda town and Gondia bypass, will cost Rs 21,670 crore. Motorists will be able to reach Gondia in just two hours, once this project is complete.

The Nagpur-Gondia expressway will pass through near Bhandara. Sawarkhanda interchange will be located near Bhandara. A partly six-lane and then four-lane expressway will be built from Sawarkhanda to Gadchiroli. The length of this expressway is 94 km and its cost is about Rs 12,900 crore.

Nagpur will also be linked with Chandrapur by an access controlled expressway. It will also connect Ballarpur and Gondpipri with Nagpur. Also Chandrapur will be connected with Pandharkawda on Nagpur-Hyderabad national highway. All these roads will be four-lane. The cost of this project is about Rs 21,700 crore and the total length is 191 km.
