Nagpur 27 : In a significant step towards enhancing safety and operational efficiency, Nagpur Division of Central Railway has equipped all 12 of its 8-wheeler Tower Wagons with state-of-the-art CCTV camera systems. This initiative aims to provide continuous visual monitoring during Overhead Equipment (OHE) maintenance and repair activities.
Tower wagons are critical assets used for inspection, maintenance, and emergency repair of the electrified railway network. With the integration of CCTV cameras, real-time visuals of ongoing work and trackside conditions can now be monitored, ensuring better coordination, safety compliance, and swift identification of defects.
The CCTV systems are strategically mounted to capture clear footage of the OHE and surrounding areas during work operations. These recordings serve as a valuable tool for analyzing maintenance practices, detecting anomalies, and maintaining records for audit and training purposes. Moreover, the visual data enhances safety for the staff by allowing remote supervision, especially during night-time or in challenging terrain.
This technological upgrade reflects Nagpur Division’s commitment to adopting innovative solutions in railway maintenance and operations, contributing to increased reliability and safety in electric traction services.
