– Student consultations to be held at divisional level
– Central law to prevent paper leaks and examination malpractices to be implemented in Maharashtra
– 25,000 secure classrooms to be established
Mumbai :- Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has decided to constitute a high-level committee to recommend comprehensive, secure and consensus-based reforms in the examination system for various government recruitments in Maharashtra. The committee will visit every division in the State, interact with students and submit a comprehensive report on the proposed reforms. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde was also present at the meeting held at Varsha Bungalow and offered several suggestions.
The high-level committee will be headed by V. Radha, Additional Chief Secretary, General Administration Department. It will comprise Director General of Police Sadanand Date, Secretary, Information Technology Department Virendra Singh, Secretary, Animal Husbandry Department Dr. N. Ramaswamy, and Nashik Divisional Commissioner Pravin Gedam.
The committee will visit each revenue division and hold discussions with students, heads of educational institutions and other stakeholders to understand their views. Based on these consultations, a comprehensive policy for the State will be formulated, it was informed at the meeting.
The Central Government has recently enacted legislation in Parliament relating to paper leaks and examination malpractices. Maharashtra already has its own legislation in this regard. However, as the law enacted by Parliament is more stringent, Chief Minister Fadnavis directed that the process to implement the Central law in Maharashtra should be completed within the next fortnight.
25,000 Secure Classrooms to be Established
Chief Minister Fadnavis also directed that at least 25,000 secure classrooms should be established across the State.
The meeting also held detailed discussions on the coordination role of district collectors, police commissioners, superintendents of police and senior education department officials in conducting various examinations. Examination systems followed in different countries, existing procedures and possible reforms in the current system were also discussed in detail.
Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal and other senior officials were present at the meeting.
